A fresh political and personal controversy has emerged surrounding the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. On Wednesday (3 June 2026), in a post from his Facebook account, Faruk Hasan, spokesperson of Gono Odhikar Parishad, expressed strong suspicion that Osman Hadi’s elder brother, Sharif Omar Hadi, may have been involved in the killing.
In his post, Faruk Hasan alleged that Omar Hadi has benefited the most from the murder. He pointed out that shortly after Osman Hadi’s death, Omar Hadi accepted a lucrative position at the Bangladesh High Commission in London. Faruk questioned why Omar Hadi would accept a post under the government of Dr. Yunus if he truly believed the interim government was responsible for the murder. He also called on the government to arrest Omar Hadi immediately and bring him under the law.
Earlier, on Tuesday night (June 2), Omar Hadi made two separate posts on his Facebook page claiming that several advisers to the interim government, as well as the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, were involved in the murder. He wrote that there had been significant pressure to remove the late Osman Hadi from the Dhaka-8 constituency and alleged that a personal secretary (PS) of the Jamaat chief was involved in the matter. He also warned the Prime Minister that if justice for Hadi’s murder was not ensured, the Prime Minister could also face threats.
It is worth noting that on January 15, the interim government appointed Omar bin Hadi on a contractual basis as a Second Secretary at the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Birmingham, United Kingdom. At present, rather than the mystery behind the murder being resolved, the exchange of accusations and political arguments between the two sides has generated public curiosity and heightened tensions.
