Concern voiced over threats to demolish Radha-Gobindo Temple

Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council has expressed grievous concern about the fact that communal threats are rising in Gaibandha to attack and raze the Radha-Gobindo Temple over there.

In a statement issued by the central committee of the organization on 6 June 2026 says that a video clip circulated through social media and propagations by means of newspapers show that a certain diabolical quarter is threatening to demolish the Radha-Gobindo Temple in Gaibandha.

Such publicity has triggered panic among religious and ethnic minorities in Gaibandha. This kind of communally driven propaganda can jeopardize interreligious harmony and malign Bangladesh's honour on the global stage. Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity urges the government, local administration and law and order forces to gear up strong initiatives to restrain communal hatred and to unleash uncompromising steps against the culprits who are spreading disharmony through virtual platforms and print media. According to Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, the Radha-Gobindo Temple consists of an old care home, a medical service center and some other public welfare institutions.

It may be recalled that attacks on religious minorities glared up in the wake of the August regime change during 2024 all over Bangladesh which were for the most part carried out by mob outfits. A broad number of local and international organizations condemned these communal mayhems.

The statement from Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council was signed by Acting General Secretary Monindra Kumar Nath.
