The Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Department, Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal, ndc, afwc, psc, has called upon all officers and employees to work with integrity and transparency in order to uphold and enhance the reputation of the institution.
He made these remarks at a Darbar held with officers and staff members of all levels at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters at 10:00 am on Sunday. Directors, project directors, and officials and employees working in Dhaka attended the event in person, while divisional deputy directors, district officers, and fire station officials from across the country joined the programme virtually from their respective workplaces.
Upon arriving at the venue at 10:00 am, the Director General was formally handed over the Darbar by the Director (Training, Planning and Development), Lieutenant Colonel M A Azad Anwar, psc.
The programme then commenced with recitations from the holy scriptures.
Welcoming all participants, the Director General officially inaugurated the Darbar. He instructed all members of the force to maintain discipline in service and perform their respective duties with honesty and transparency in order to preserve the dignity and reputation of the institution.
He also sought everyone’s cooperation in ensuring that the upcoming recruitment activities remain transparent and corruption-free, following the successful model of last year’s recruitment process. He warned all members of the force against becoming involved in any unethical activities related to recruitment. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of communicating all departmental orders and instructions regarding recruitment to members at every level of the force.
The Director General further requested sincere cooperation from all concerned in maintaining the transparency that has already been established in the transfer process across all levels of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Department.
In addition, he instructed all personnel to follow existing laws and regulations while using social media. He cautioned that any member found involved in disseminating unlawful content that harms the reputation of the force would face action in accordance with the prevailing laws. Alongside these directives, he also highlighted various welfare-oriented initiatives undertaken by the department.
At the end of his speech, the Director General patiently listened to the opinions of officers and staff members attending both physically and virtually and responded to their various questions. The Darbar concluded at 12:00 noon.
