Ansar-VDP engages in strengthening border security

The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP) has been playing a significant role as a supporting force in safeguarding the country's sovereignty, ensuring border security, and preventing cross-border crimes.  To further strengthen these efforts, Ansar-VDP members have been deployed in border areas under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in 2025, making border management and security operations more coordinated and effective. According to the MoU, Ansar-VDP members are carrying out duties in border regions in close coordination with the BGB in response to national requirements and security needs.  At present, members of Ansar and VDP/TDP have already been deployed in upazilas and police station areas across 11 border districts- Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Joypurhat, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Satkhira, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Sylhet, Jamalpur, and Khagrachhari. In addition, members of the Ansar Battalion have been kept prepared and on alert to ensure a rapid response to any emerging situation and to provide additional manpower whenever necessary.

The involvement of Ansar-VDP in border security operations is strengthening the national security framework while complementing the activities of the BGB.

As a result, enhanced surveillance, improved prevention of cross-border crimes, and greater protection of local communities are contributing to the development of an integrated and sustainable security system in border areas.
