The United States Ambassador to Bangladesh, Brent T. Christensen, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister's Defense Adviser, Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam on Tuesday (9 June 2026) to discuss bilateral security cooperation.
The high-level meeting, which included a three-member U.S. delegation, was held yesterday at the Defense Adviser's Office at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment. During the proceedings, both dignitaries reviewed the enduring bilateral relations between Dhaka and Washington DC, exchanging views on a wide spectrum of mutual strategic interests. Key areas of deliberation centered on elevating military-to-military cooperation, facilitating professional knowledge exchange and expanding joint training and defense exercises.
The Defense Adviser noted the long-standing partner relationship between the two nations, expressing confidence that defence collaboration would gather further momentum in near future between Bangladesh and USA. For his part, US Ambassador Christensen highly admired the professionalism and institutional capacity of Bangladesh Armed Forces, particularly emphasizing their exemplary track record and contributions to global UN peacekeeping operations.
