US Ambassador calls on Jamaat Ameer
US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen called on Jamaat-E-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Tuesday (9 June 2026) at National Parliament.
Brent T. Christensen said after the meeting with Dr. Shafiqur Rahman that he was highly delighted to speak to the Jamaat Ameer. Brent T. Christensen stated on the US Embassy Facebook page that he talked about the progress of the parliamentary session during the call on with Parliament Opposition Leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.
On the other hand, Jamaat informed through a media note that Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and Brent T. Christensen exchanged views on Bangladesh's political situation, economic circumstances, upcoming national budget, bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and the United States during the meeting. Jamaat-E-Islami stated that Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and Brent T. Christensen had fruitful discussions about the advancement of democratic institutions, good governance, economic cooperation and some regional issues and international affairs yesterday.
