The Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) AKM Shamsul Islam inspected Sriti Omlan at Chittagong Cantonment on Wednesday (10 June 2026) which is an important establishment signifying the glorious memories and ballads associated with the Liberation War of 1971.
AKM Shamsul Islam saw with deep honour the 1967 model Toyota transport used by martyred President Ziaur Rahman during the Liberation War. The Defence Adviser said that the 1971 Liberation War is an epic on the valour and sacrifices of the valiant people of Bangladesh for the country's independence and sovereignty. He laid emphasis on preserving the history of the Liberation War for the enlightenment of the new generation.
AKM Shamsul Islam also stressed the necessity of presenting the Liberation War history to youngsters through proper research work on the basis of accurate information. High-ranking military officers were present during the inspection. Sriti Omlan represents the glory of the East Bengal Regiment looking back on 1971.
Sriti Omlan contains vital documents and the tales of heroic self-dedication of fearless freedom fighters which comprises a museum and an independence monument. It also exhibits the geographical, social and cultural dimensions of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Sriti Omlan aims at inspiring youths with moving remembrances of the Liberation War boosting them with a patriotic spirit.
