ULAB explores new collaboration with ACU
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has explored new avenues for collaboration with the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) during a meeting at its campus.
The discussions focused on strengthening engagement between ULAB and the ACU in line with their shared commitment to internationalisation, academic partnerships and the advancement of higher education across the Commonwealth, the university said in a media statement.
The meeting was held at the ULAB campus on Jun 11.
The ACU delegation was led by Prof Colin Riordan, secre
tary general and chief executive officer of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and Ikita Pokharna, membership engagement lead for South Asia at the organisation.
ULAB Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Shamsad Mortuza, Pro-VC Prof Jude William Genilo, the registrar, deans of different faculties, heads of academic departments and senior administrative officials attended the meeting, the statement said.
According to the university release, both delegations exchanged views on ULAB's ongoing engagement with the global body and explored potential areas of mutual cooperation.
The talks "aligned with the ACU Charter and a shared commitment to internationalisation, academic partnerships, and the advancement of higher education across the Commonwealth". The ULAB VC said the engagement marked an "important step" in strengthening ULAB's international outlook.
"We believe that closer cooperation with the ACU will open new avenues for our students and faculty members and further enhance ULAB's contribution to higher education and global knowledge sharing."
The discussions opened up opportunities for the two organisations to work together on a range of educational initiatives, the statement said.
Participants expressed optimism that such cooperation would help expand opportunities for ULAB students and faculty members in higher education, research, academic mobility, professional development and doctoral studies, it added.
