Mother and daughter stabbed to death in Chattogram
Miscreants brutally stabbed a mother and daughter to death after entering a house in Anwara, Chattogram . The double murder took place at Chenamati village in Ward No. 6 of Parikoda Union in Anwara around 11 pm on Saturday, 13 June 2026. A five-year-old child was seriously injured in the attack after being struck with sharp weapons. The brother of the accused individuals has already been arrested and brought to the local police station for interrogation. The deceased were identified as Sujan Barua's wife, Annie Barua (40), and her daughter, Priyanti Barua (16). The seriously injured child, Pias Barua (5), was rescued and given first aid at the Anwara Upazila Health Complex. According to local and police sources, for some time now, there has been a dispute in Sujan Barua's family over various internal and family issues, including interest money. As a result, the accused Tejpriya Barua (35) entered the house around 11 pm yesterday and attacked the mother, daughter and child with a sharp objective. He stabbed them indiscriminately with a sharp knife and fled through the back door of the house. Hearing the screams, neighbours came forward and rescued the three people in a bloody state. Among them, Annie Barua and Priyanti Barua died on the spot. Child Pias Barua was rescued in a seriously injured condition and rushed to the hospital. Sujan Barua, husband of the deceased Ani Barua, said, "We had financial transactions with our neighbor Tejpriya Barua. The attack may have been carried out by coming to the house in search of related documents. I was in the city at the time of the incident. At night, when I got my elder brother's mobile phone, I came home and saw that everything was over." Anwara Police Station Sub-Inspector Jewel Ahmed said that a police team went to the spot at night after receiving the news of the murders. The police recovered the bodies of the victims mother and daughter and brought them to the police station. Initially, it is perceived that the double murder took place due to a family dispute. The person involved has been absconding since the occurrence.
