Additional SP Saqlayen faces mandatory retirement over Pori Moni scandal

Ex Additional Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB), Dhaka Metropolitan Police Golam Saqlayen is facing higher authorities' decision to send him on mandatory retirement over his sensational scandal with film star Pori Moni. The government has identified solid evidence and proofs that disclosed Golam Saqlayen's intimate physical relationship with Pori Moni which is why departmental actions are being taken against him on grounds of moral degeneration. Reportedly Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has meanwhile signed the summary of the office order to terminate Golam Saqlayen from service. Later on this letter will be sent to the Prime Minister and President for their signatures, relevant sources have informed news outlets.

It may be recalled that Pori Moni slapped rape and attempt to murder allegations on businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud following an occurrence at Dhaka Boat Club in Ashulia dated 9 June 2021. Additional SP Golam Saqlayen was investigation officer of that police case. Afterwards a number of television channels reported that Pori Moni frequently visited Golam Saqlayen's apartment at that time. It was also reported that Pori Moni entered Golam Saqlayen's flat on 1 August 2021 morning and left at midnight. Close circuit camera video clips showing Golam Saqlayen and Pori Moni moving around together were also shown by television channels.

Following disclosure of Golam Saqlayen's immoral relations with Pori Moni, he was transferred to another station from DB. An inquiry team comprising three police officers verified these allegations which turned out to be authentic. Crime Investigation Department (CID) also collected evidences reflecting conversations between Pori Moni and Additional SP Golam Saqlayen via Messenger and WhatsApp. Inquiry reports suggest that the illegal love affair between Pori Moni and Golam Saqlayen maligned the government's image.

Journalists tried to reach Pori Moni and Golam Saqlayen over phone for their comments on this phenomenon but they did not answer the phone calls.
