Campaign, exhibition to increase public awareness held in Daudkandi

An annual campaign and video show exhibition to increase public awareness about village courts services was held in Daulatpur union under Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla. The annual campaign was organized at Baluchar village under the union. The video show highlighted the progress of the village courts project, challenges, recommendations, and achievements in running the village courts. At the end of the exhibition show, the participants answered various questions from organisers and won prizes.

Abdul Salam Bepari, Chairman (Acting) of Daulatpur Union Parishad, was present at the exhibition as the chief guest.

He said, "The field level activities of the The Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh (AVCB) Project is spearheaded by the Local Government Division (LGD) under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives are going on to facilitate the path of justice for the poor and underprivileged people. A specific objective of this project is to resolve disputes locally in an easy, low-cost, fast and transparent manner and to increase the capacity of the grassroots poor and marginalized communities, especially women, to seek redress for injustices."

Upazila Village Court Co-ordinator Shahadat Hossain Rasel, Md. Faruk Member, and Mohila Member Masuma Begum spoke at the function. Dignitaries of Daulatpur Union Parishad were also present at that time.
