Third edition of Turaag Active Dhaka 25K to take place today

A marathon is never just about covering a certain distance. It is a journey of pushing beyond personal limits, embracing a healthier lifestyle, and rediscovering a familiar city through a new experience. Continuing that spirit, the third edition of the international-standard marathon "Turaag Active Dhaka 25K 2026" is set to take place on Friday, at Hatirjheel in the capital.

Under the slogan "Road to Glory," the mega event has been organized by sports management company Run Bangladesh, with around 3,000 professional and amateur runners from home and abroad expected to participate this year. As the first rays of sunlight brighten the city, Hatirjheel will come alive with the footsteps of runners arriving from different parts of the country.

Inspired by the success of its previous two editions, Turaag Active Dhaka 25K returns this year on a larger scale with improved organization and professional management. As in previous years, the title sponsor of the event is the country's leading activewear brand Turaag Active, a concern of Urmi Group. The company has joined hands with the marathon to promote an active lifestyle and encourage a healthier, more dynamic way of living in society.

The organizer's said that Turaag Active Dhaka 25K is not merely a competition; rather, it is a platform where new runners, experienced athletes, and families come together with a shared goal. While some participants will take on the challenge to break their personal best (PB) records, others will test their physical endurance or simply enjoy the joy, energy, and camaraderie of running. Speaking about the initiative, Urmi Group Director Faiyaz Rahman said that marathons are no longer just sporting events but have transformed into a social movement.

"Regular running and physical exercise help improve people's immunity and mental strength, contributing to building a more positive society. As a concern of Turag Active-Urmi Group, we always want to stand beside sports, wellness, and the positive development of the young generation," he said.

The event stands out for its international standards and professional approach. It is an officially recognized member of the global marathon organization AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races), while the entire race route has been certified by World Athletics.

As a result, participants will experience a race environment that meets international standards and gain globally recognised race credentials.

To ensure a better experience for runners and maintain the festive atmosphere, this year's marathon has been divided into three major categories.

The 25K Feature Race, the main attraction of the event, is designed for experienced runners ready to take on the challenge of long-distance racing. The 10.3K Run aims to inspire beginner and intermediate-level runners, providing an ideal milestone for fitness enthusiasts and distance runners. Meanwhile, the 3K Family Fun Run has been arranged to turn running into a celebration of family bonding, allowing participants of all ages-from children to senior citizens-to take part together.
