BB reserve heist case: CID rejects reports on 'draft chargesheet'

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has said that the information published in various media outlets regarding the 'draft chargesheet' of the Bangladesh Bank reserve theft case was not provided by any official of the agency.

This information was disclosed in a press release sent on Friday, by CID's Special Superintendent of Police (Media), Jashim Uddin Khan. The CID requested all concerned not to consider those statements published in the media as the official stance of the CID.

In the press release, the CID stated that regarding recent media reports on the investigation of the central bank's reserve theft case-which cited CID officials concerning a draft chargesheet-no official of the agency had provided that information to the media.

The release further added that the highly discussed reserve theft case is currently under investigation. For the sake of the investigation, detailed information regarding the case cannot be disclosed at this moment. Upon completion of the investigation process, the report will be submitted to the court, and updated information on the case will be provided later through a press briefing.

The CID urged the media to solely follow official CID press releases or statements from its spokesperson when reporting on this case.
