Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard have confiscated a truck loaded with 800 kg of sugar which allegedly came out of the port without required customs clearance to evade duty.
Two individuals involved in the smuggling were arrested during a drive on Friday, officials said.
According to Coast Guard, a fraudulent group was planning to transport the sugar after illegally unloading from a commercial vessel.
Acting on a tip off, a coast guard team inspected the truck with 800 kg of sugar, said Sumon Al Mukit, media officer of the coast guard.
