State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj on Sunday said the government will rebuild country's education system based on morality learning.
Family values, moral education, civic responsibility, religious and cultural awareness will be incorporated while priority will be given to basic literacy and acquiring numeric knowledge at primary level, he said.
He made the remarks at an exchange of views meeting at the Directorate of Primary Education at Mirpur in the capital, reports BSS.
The state minister said the journey of curriculum reform for 2028 formally began today.
In formulating the new curriculum, he said, the highest importance would be given to the actual learning abilities of primary-level students, reading proficiency, mathematical skills and life-oriented education.
The state minister further said the government is working with the goal that a student of class-two or class-three should be able to read and understand a book, express its contents in his or her own language and develop an interest in learning.
He said the new curriculum will define clear learning outcomes for every class and establish a specific exit profile outlining the competencies students are expected to achieve upon completing Class V.
Based on these, textbooks, teacher guidelines, assessment methods and educational materials will be developed, he added.
Bobby Hajjaj also said video lessons, digital content and supplementary educational materials would be developed for students and teachers in line with the new curriculum.
He said pre-primary education, in particular, will be conducted entirely through play-based and joyful learning methods.
He further informed that Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs) will be provided to every government primary school within the next one year and to every classroom within the next three years.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Directorate of Primary Education, National Academy for Primary Education, BRAC Education Programme, Campaign for Popular Education and Plan International Bangladesh, were present on the occasion.
