Chief of Staff of Bangladesh Navy (CNS) Admiral M Nazmul Hassan on Sunday (21 June 2026) instructed newly commissioned navy officers to remain imbued with honesty, dedication and confidence and to get ready to make the ultimate sacrifice for safeguarding the country's independence and sovereignty.
He made the call while addressing the Summer Presidential Parade of Midshipman 2023-B and Direct Entry Officer 2026-A batches at the Bangladesh Naval Academy in Chittagong, said an Inter Services Press Release--ISPR press release yesterday.
The Navy Chief said Bangladesh Navy is playing a vital role in protecting maritime sovereignty, safeguarding marine resources, combating crimes at sea, providing humanitarian assistance during disasters and performing duties under 'Aid to Civil Power'. Admiral M. Nazmul Hassan said Navy-operated
shipyards, dockyards and CNRD are working to develop indigenous technology and build maritime platforms under the "Made in Bangladesh" policy.
Efforts are also underway to induct helicopters, unmanned aircraft, modern frigates and advanced maritime platforms, while shore-based surveillance systems, electronic warfare centres and anti-drone systems are being installed to enhance naval capabilities, the press release added.
A total of 61 officers, including 54 midshipmen and seven direct-entry officers, received commissions through the parade. Among them were five women and two foreign officers.
Midshipman Intisar Islam Inan received the "Sword of Honour" as the best all-round cadet.
The newly commissioned officers later on took oaths to defend the country's independence and sovereignty under all circumstances.
