BGMEA's 43rd AGM vows united efforts to tackle RMG sector challenges


The 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) was held on Saturday at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, with industry leaders reaffirming their commitment to collective efforts to address the challenges facing the country's ready-made garment (RMG) sector.

The meeting was presided over by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan and began with a welcome address by the association's first Vice President, Selim Rahman.

During the AGM, members approved the audited financial statements for the  2024-25 fiscal year. The budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year was also presented and approved, while auditors for the period were appointed. 

In his keynote address, Mahmud Hasan Khan highlighted the current situation of the RMG industry, outlining the initiatives undertaken by the present board over the past year and presenting future plans aimed at strengthening the sector's competitiveness and sustainability.

BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mizanur Rahman presented the financial statements and the proposed budget before the assembly. Participants stressed the importance of unity and coordinated action to overcome existing and emerging challenges confronting the garment industry.

The AGM was attended by the association's vice presidents and directors, former presidents, former vice presidents and directors, Zainul Abdin Farroque, MP, chairmen and members of various standing committees, and general members of the organisation. The event concluded with a celebration marking the successful completion of the current board's first year in office.
