A mild earthquake shook the Bangladesh capital Dhaka and surrounding areas on Monday night, sparking brief panic among residents.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, The earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter scale. The BMD confirmed that the epicentre of the seismic activity was located relatively close to the capital, just 16 kilometres East of Dhaka.
No immediate casualties or property damages have been reported anywhere in the country following the brief tremor.
