The Asian Age Publisher Al Amin Chowdhury paid a courtesy call on Director General of the Department of Films and Publications (DFP) Khaleda Begum at her office in Dhaka on Tuesday. During the meeting, Al Amin Chowdhury highlighted the role of mass media in the country's democracy and socio-economic development. He claimed that the importance of newspapers is immense in building a country without discrimination. Al Amin Chowdhury called upon DFP authorities to come forward to keep up the responsible and transparent position of news outlets. DFP Director General Khaled Begum highlighted the issue of giving priority to those with degrees in journalism and mass communication from various universities in the recruitment of journalists in newspapers and television channels. She laid emphasis on the prevalence of freedom of press and objective journalism to ensure good governance and integrity in all sectors of Bangladesh.
