Jamaat-backed lawyers quit Attorney General's office
Pro-Jamaat 17 Assistant Attorney Generals and Deputy Attorney Generals have resigned from their posts with effect from 22 June 2026 (Monday). Deputy Attorney General Tariqul Islam informed this to reporters on Tuesday (23 June 2026).
The Deputy Attorney Generals who have quit are Yusuf Ali, Shafiqur Rahman, Abdul Karim, Farid Uddin Khan, Golam Rahman Bhuiyan, Asad Uddin and Tariqul Islam. On the other hand, the Assistant Attorney Generals who have stepped down are Imrul Kayes Rana, Humayun Kabir Tanim, Abdul Quayum Bhuiyan, Abdullahil Maruf Fahim, Zobaidur Rahman, Shamsul Arefin, Mahbuba Akter Roly, Nur Nabi Ujjal, Ali Reza Amir and Rezaul Islam.
