Man's half-decomposed body recovered from Siddhirganj pond


Police recovered the decomposed body of an elderly man in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj on Tuesday. 

The deceased has been identified as Moktar Hossain, 75, son of late Arab Ali of Godnail Arambagh area.

According to police and local sources, locals found a body inside the pond under the wooden floor of a shop. Later, they called the national emergency service 999. On information, a police team from the Siddhirganj police station reached the spot and recovered the body. Family members said that Moktar Hossain left his house for Asr prayers at around 5 pm on June 12 and did not return. Since then, despite searching in various places, he has not been found.

The family claimed that Moktar Hossain suffered a brain stroke a few days ago. Since then, his memory has not been normal and he was suffering from various physical problems related to old age. 

The police believe that he could have died anytime from the afternoon of June 12 to the morning of June 23. However, looking at the condition of the body, it is initially believed that he died about 10 to 11 days ago.

Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Emdadul Haque said, "The body has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy to find out the real cause of death. Necessary legal action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report."
