Sewing machines were distributed among 20 beneficiaries in Saturia of Manikganj district to help them become self-reliant and improve their families' livelihoods.
Jointly organized by the upazila administration and Manikganj Zilla Parishad, the sewing machines distribution event was attended by Manikganj Zilla Parishad Administrator Jamilur Rashid Khan as the chief guest.
Conducted by Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Jasmine Akter, Saturia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kazi Mohammad Anik Islam chaired the program while Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Mehedi Hasan was present as special guest.
In addition, Saturia Upazila BNP leader Abdul Quddus Khan Majlish Makhon, Abul Bashar Sarkar, and Saturia Press Club Secretary Hasan Faizi were present on the occasion.
Sspeakers at the event said that this initiative has been taken by the Zilla Parishad with an aim of creating self-employment and making marginalized and helpless women financially independent. Such assistance will further accelerate the rural economy and play a leading role in making women self-reliant.
Zila Parishad Assistant Engineer Md. Shahidul Rahman, Saturia Upazila BNP leader Abdur Rahman, Jubo Dal leader Amir Hamza, local administration officials, representatives of the district and upazila Parishads, and local dignitaries were also present.
