Physician arrested over July Uprising explosive case

Police Department has arrested Dr. Samir Hossain Mishu from a restaurant in Bogura in connection with a case lodged during the 2024 July Uprising. Dr. Samir Hossain Mishu is well-known as a 'doctor for poor people". He was arrested on Tuesday night at around 11 pm. He is a leader of Shwadhinata Chikitshok Parishad (Shwachip).

Local people have informed that Dr. Samir Hossain Mishu was attending another doctor's birthday celebration at Sherpur in Bogura city wherefrom he was detained by cops.

Local police station has told reporters that Dr. Samir Hossain was sued for explosive attacks during the 2024 July Uprising when the Anti-Discriminatory Students' Movement was going on. Police force detained him on Tuesday in connection with this case.

Case documents show that Dr. Samir Hossain Mishu assaulted agitating students on 3 August 2024 with bombs and sharp weapons in which several demonstrators were injured.
