Australian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Susan Ryle and UNICEF Country Representative Rana Flowers met Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Wednesday in the Secretariat to establish a new AUD16 million multi-year agreement for supporting Rohingya children and host communities in Bangladesh. The renewed commitment will help UNICEF and its partners protect and sustain essential services in health, education, nutrition, protection and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

The meeting discussed the importance of protecting the rights, well-being and future of Rohingya and host community children, to ensure they continue to receive the support they need today while building pathways toward a safer and more hopeful tomorrow.

Susan Ryle stated during the meeting that together with UNICEF and the Bangladesh government, Australia remains committed to ensuring children can survive, learn and thrive.
