The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Society of Bangladesh (PHOSB) was held on Wednesday at the IPNA Seminar Hall of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU). Around 40 paediatric haematology and oncology specialists from across the country attended the meeting.
The event was graced by Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan, former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University and a legendary figure in paediatric haematology and oncology, as the Chief Guest. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Afiqul Islam.
During the AGM, a new Executive Committee of the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Society of Bangladesh was unanimously elected. Professor Dr. Afiqul Islam, former Chairman of the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at Bangladesh Medical University, was elected President, while Associate Professor Dr. Chowdhury Shamchul Haque Kibriya of the same department was elected General Secretary.
The newly elected committee also includes Professor Dr. Ferdousi as Vice President, Professor Dr. Sabina Karim as Joint Secretary, and Dr. Soma as Treasurer. The meeting featured discussions on the Society's ongoing activities, future plans, and key strategies to improve the quality of treatment for childhood cancer and blood disorders in Bangladesh.
In the concluding session, Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Karim and Professor Dr. Johra Jamila Khan congratulated the newly elected committee members and expressed their optimism that, through collective efforts, the Society's activities would be further strengthened, contributing to world-class advancements in the treatment of childhood cancer and blood disorders in Bangladesh.a
