Global Health Summit showcases NRB scientists’ role in BD’s biotech revolution

The Global Health Summit 2026, a landmark gathering of scientists, healthcare leaders, pharmaceutical experts, policymakers, researchers and innovators, was successfully held on Wednesday at The Westin Dhaka under the theme, “Role of Non-Resident Bangladeshi (NRB) Scientists in Advancing Biotech and Biosimilar Drugs in Bangladesh’s Pharmaceutical Industry.”

The summit was jointly organized by Business America Magazine, Arthakantha, and NRB World and brought together distinguished participants from Bangladesh and abroad to discuss the future of biotechnology, biosimilar medicines, healthcare innovation, and scientific collaboration. The keynote address was delivered by internationally acclaimed scientist Prof. M. Nasir Uddin, PhD, FAHA, Professor and Research Director at Texas A&M University College of Medicine, USA. In his address, he emphasized the immense potential of Bangladesh’s biotechnology and biosimilar sectors and highlighted the importance of global research partnerships, innovation-driven growth, and the active engagement of NRB scientists in national development. One of the major attractions of the summit was a high-level panel discussion on “Biotechnology and Biosimilar Innovation,” where experts explored emerging opportunities, research advancements.

The Closing Ceremony was graced by Yasser Khan Choudhury, MP, Hon’ble State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, as the Chief Guest.A special highlight of the event was the unveiling of the commemorative publication, “100 Healthcare Titans of Bangladesh,” which recognized distinguished individuals and institutions for their outstanding contributions to the country’s healthcare sector.

The summit also featured the presentation of the Global Health Awards 2026, recognizing outstanding achievements in healthcare, medical science, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, innovation, research, leadership, and industry development.

Distinguished guests included Prof. M. Nasir Uddin, PhD, FAHA; Yasser Khan Choudhury, MP; Ayub Bhuiyan, General Secretary of the National Press Club; Md. Alamgir Hossain, Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Directorate General of Drug Administration; Md. Monowar Hosen, MP, Member of Parliament for Magura-1; Ms. Rahima Begum, Additional Secretary, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance; and Enamul Haque Enam, Managing Editor of Business America Magazine and Arthakantha.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Wg. Cdr. Mohd. Ismail Hossain Shiraji (Retd), Publisher and Editor of Business Asia. Umaira Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Business America Magazine, delivered a corporate presentation highlighting the organization’s initiatives and future vision.

Sumaiya Zaman, Executive Editor of Business America Magazine and Arthakantha, presented the special publications and led the publication unveiling ceremony. The event concluded with closing remarks delivered by Sharmin Nahar Lina, Country Manager of Business America Magazine.

According to the organizers, the summit successfully created a valuable platform for strengthening international collaboration, promoting knowledge exchange, encouraging investment, and accelerating research-driven innovation to enhance Bangladesh’s position in the global biotechnology and biosimilar industry.
