PIB holds training to develop professional skills of Satkhira journalists

The three-day training programme aimed at enhancing journalists' skills in multimedia reporting, fact-checking and combating rumors and misinformation concluded in Satkhira.

The certificate-giving ceremony was held on at the Satkhira Mangrove Assembly Hall auditorium on Thursday afternoon.

The training, a joint initiative of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, began on June 23 (Tuesday). Satkhira Zila Parishad Administrator Habibul Islam Habib, was present as the chief guest at the closing and certificate distribution ceremony yesterday.
The closing ceremony, chaired by PIB trainer Sahanwar Saeed Shaheen, was attended by special guests including Satkhira Press Club President Md. Abul Kashem, General Secretary Md. Asaduzzaman Asad, trainer Julhas Kabir, among others.

The chief guest, Zila Parishad Administrator, said, "The current age is the age of information technology. In this age of technological advancement, both the scope and challenges of journalists have increased. There is no alternative to fact checking to prevent misinformation and rumors spread especially on social media. We must stand against rumors and propaganda through objective and courageous journalism. This training will further enrich Satkhira journalists in presenting objective news." He highlighted the election manifesto and development plan of the current government and called for promoting it in the public interest, emphasizing the positive use of modern technology by journalists.
