The ''9th National Men's Baseball Championship-2026'' concluded on Sunday at the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Academy Ground in Safipur, Gazipur with a closing ceremony. 

In the much-awaited final match, the Bangladesh Police Baseball team displayed great skill and defeated the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Baseball team by 34-12 runs in a 9-inning game to become the national champion for the seventh time.

In the title-deciding match that started at 2 pm, Bangladesh Police presented an aggressive and dominant game from the beginning. They regained the title with outstanding performances in both the batting and defense departments.

At the closing and prize distribution ceremony organised after the game, State Minister, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Md. AminulHaque, was present as the chief guest and handed over trophies, medals, and cash to the winners.

Champion Bangladesh Police received 50,000 taka while runner-up Bangladesh Ansar and VDP earned 25,000 taka. Third place team Joypurhat district got 15,000 taka while fourth place: Munshiganj district got 10,000 taka.

Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force, Major General Abdul MotalebSajjad Mahmud, SGP, BAM, NDU, AFWC, PSC, was present as the special guest at the closing ceremony.

The program was presided over by Mr. Md. AfzalurRahman, President of Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association. Present at the event were the Association's Senior Vice President Dr. AnupamHossain, General Secretary TalhaZubair, Joint Secretary Imam Hossain, Tournament Committee Chairman Dr. Arafe Jawad. 

other officials of the Federation, senior officials of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force, players from different districts, coaches, managers, invited guests and sports enthusiasts.

The chief guest said in his speech, "Baseball is a very popular professional game worldwide. Today, I have the opportunity to watch a baseball game live for the first time and I found the game very enjoyable and interesting." He also said that the potential of baseball in Bangladesh is very bright. In the future, more skilled players will be produced at the national level and initiatives will be taken to bring them under the necessary facilities and incentives.

At one point in his speech, the Honorable State Minister expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force, Major General Abdul MotalebSajjad Mahmud, and the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force for their sincere cooperation in providing international standard grounds, accommodation, security and overall management for the National Baseball Championship. 
He said that this cooperation has played an important role in organizing the tournament successfully and in an orderly manner. He expressed hope that such sincere cooperation of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force will continue in the development of baseball, training activities and organizing national competitions in the future. He highly appreciated the Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association's baseball development activities across the country in a short period of time, the formation of district and club-based teams and the participation of 14 district, club and force teams in this year's national championship. 

He also assured to take necessary measures to allocate a permanent baseball field for organizing training and national competitions in the future, in view of the association's application. Earlier, in the third place match held throughout the day, the Joypurhat District Baseball Team defeated the Munshiganj District Baseball Team by 15-14 runs to secure the third place.
