BB appoints executive director Sarwar Hossain as deputy governor

The government has appointed Md. Sarwar Hossain, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, as the new Deputy Governor of the central bank. He has been granted this

 contractual appointment for a period of three years, subject to his voluntary retirement from his current post and the suspension of his post-retirement leave (PRL).

A notification regarding this appointment was issued on Tuesday (June 30) by the Central Bank Branch of the Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance. According to the official gazette, in accordance with Article 10(4) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972, Md. Sarwar Hossain has been contractually appointed to the position of Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank for a three-year term starting from his date of joining. Other terms and conditions of his service will be finalized through a separate agreement.

The government stated that this order, issued in the public interest, will come into force immediately.

Prior to this elevation, Md. Sarwar Hossain was serving as an Executive Director of the central bank. With this new appointment, he joins the apex management team of Bangladesh Bank.
