Huge quantity banned polythene seized in N'ganj

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized a large amount of banned polythene in Narayanganj. Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan revealed the information on Wednesday noon.

He said, "Acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Pagla in the area adjacent to Kanchpur Bridge in Narayanganj at 7am on Wednesday. During the operation, a suspicious truck was searched in the area and 4,500 kg of banned polythene worth about Tk 54 lakh was seized. At this time, the driver and helper were released along with the truck.

Later, the seized polythene was handed over to the Narayanganj Department of Environment for destruction. He also said that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in future to protect the environment.
