Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Thursday said the Bangladesh government will take stern action against the spread of propaganda and misinformation on social media, emphasizing that no attempt to create unrest or mislead the country's people will be tolerated.
The minister made the remarks while speaking about the government's commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring responsible use of digital platforms. He said the authorities would take appropriate legal measures against individuals or groups found involved in spreading false or provocative content aimed at disrupting social harmony.
Earlier in the day, Palestine Ambassador to Bangladesh Youssef S.Y. Ramadan paid a courtesy call on the Home Minister at the Secretariat in Dhaka.During the meeting, Salahuddin Ahmed reaffirmed Bangladesh's longstanding friendship with Palestine, saying that Bangladesh has always stood by the Palestinian people and remains steadfast in its support for Palestine's independence.
The Home Minister also underscored Bangladesh's commitment to interreligious harmony and peaceful coexistence. He said the nation believes in fostering mutual respect among people of all faiths and remains dedicated to promoting peace, tolerance, and international solidarity.
The meeting also highlighted the cordial relations between Bangladesh and Palestine, with both sides expressing hope for continued cooperation and stronger bilateral ties in the future.
