Anisur Rahman made new BB Deputy Governor

The government has appointed Md Anisur Rahman, currently serving as executive director of Bangladesh Bank, as a deputy governor of the central bank for three years.

The Financial Institutions Division under the finance ministry issued a notification to this effect on Monday. He will replace deputy governor Zakir Hossain Chowdhury as the government cancelled Zakir's remaining tenure. On September 8, 2024, Zakir was appointed as deputy governor for three years.

According to the notification, the appointment has been made under Article 10(4) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972, in the public interest and will take effect immediately upon his joining.

Anisur Rahman has been appointed on a contractual basis for three years from the date of assuming office. The appointment is subject to his voluntary retirement from his permanent post as executive director and the suspension of his Post-Retirement Leave.

The notification said the terms and conditions of his service, including salary and other benefits, will be determined through a separate supplementary agreement to be signed between the government and the appointee.
