CPB deplores US over using Parliament for Independence Day celebrations

Kazi Sazzad Zahir Chandan, President of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) has slammed the US Embassy in Dhaka for using South Plaza of Bangladesh Parliament for the celebration of the US Independence Day. Kazi Sazzad Zahir Chandan presented his condemnation over this issue through a statement published on Saturday (5 July 2026).

The CPB President stated that Parliament is the symbol of Bangladesh's independence and sovereignty. The authorities concerned should not have allowed the US Embassy to use Parliamentary premises for celebrating their Independence Day, the CPB President further said. Kazi Sazzad Zahir Chandan commented that the US government is trying to impose neocolonial clampdown on Bangladesh by means of detrimental accords to spoil the country's commercial prospects and national security.

Kazi Sazzad Zahir Chandan recalled that the United States attempted to obstruct Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971 by sending the Seventh Fleet of the US Navy.  He blamed the US government for supporting Pakistan Army during 1971. The US rulers are once again conspiring against Bangladesh, Kazi Sazzad Zahir Chandan added.

CPB demanded that Parliament authorities should apologize to Bangladeshi people for the above phenomenon. The media note from CPB was signed by CPB Central Committee Member Monzur Moin.
