The newly appointed Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daudkandi Model Police Station Mohammad Sajedul Islam Polash announced a strict zero-tolerance stance against drugs in the upazila.
He said, "Leave the drugs trade. If someone falls into a pit on this path, there will be no one to rescue them. No lobbying regarding drugs will be accepted at the police station."
The OC made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest at a community policing and view-exchange meeting on preventing drugs, juvenile gangs, robbery and snatching organized by Community Policing No. 1 Beat at the Hasnabad Government Primary School premises in Daudkandi Uttar Union on Monday (July 7) afternoon.
"The police are the people, and the people are the police. Everyone must cooperate with the police by providing information to curb drugs and crime. If the state, society, and family all work together against drugs and crime, 99% of the problems will be solved," the OC Sajedul Islam said.
"The honorable District Superintendent of Police has been given clear instructions - no recommendations will be heard regarding drugs. There is no scope for lobbying either. The police will work at its own pace. If anyone tries to deteriorate the law and order situation, immediate action will be taken. The current government has adopted a zero tolerance policy in drug control", he added.
Chaired by Daudkandi Uttar Union Community Policing Advisor Haji Ali Azghar Sarker, politician and social activist M Salauddin Selim, Md. Nazim Uddin Master, Union BNP General Secretary Mohsin Ahmed, prominent businessman and social activist M Shafiuddin were present at the meeting as the special guests.
Prominent businessman and social worker Mamun Sarker moderated the meeting, while Beat In-Charge Sub Inspector Arifur Islam, ASI Md. Selim, Shahidullah Dewan, Zakir Hossain, Monir Hossain Sarker, Hossain Sarker, Motaleb Molla, and Doctor Iqbal spoke at the meeting. Local elites including Iqbal Hossain, Arif Hossain Master and Rakibul Rahman were present at that time.
