EWU launches Foreign Language Center to boost global connectivity

In a significant move to enhance employment opportunities, global connectivity, cultural understanding and excellence in language education, East West University (EWU) inaugurated the Foreign Language Center. 

  The opening ceremony of the center was held on Thursday at the university's Manzur Elahi Auditorium, according to a press release.

Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh Saida Shinichi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, Ambassador Shinichi lauded the initiative, calling the launch of the Foreign Language Center a highly timely step to prepare students for the global stage. 

He expressed optimism that such endeavors would further strengthen the long-standing bond between Bangladesh and Japan. Additionally, the Ambassador extended his gratitude to EWU for choosing Japanese as the center's first language curriculum.

The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the EWU Board of Trustees and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank. In his concluding remarks, Dr. Farashuddin highlighted that EWU established this center in alignment with the Honorable Prime Minister's call for learning a third language. He emphasized that this initiative will enable students to transcend borders and establish themselves as truly global graduates.

Hedayatul Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, attended the ceremony as the Special Guest. 

He reiterated the government's solidarity with such progressive educational advancements that contribute to building a skilled workforce. Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of EWU, Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, delivered the welcome speech, greeting the distinguished guests, faculty, and students. He envisioned the Foreign Language Center as a vibrant hub for academic and cultural exchange.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by EWU faculty members and students, alongside members of the Japan Alumni Association, officials from various government offices, and representatives from the Embassy of Japan.
