A Bangladeshi youth from Sylhet has been killed in firing by Khasias after infiltrating into India. The incident took place at around 3 am on Saturday in the Lakhat station area of Meghalaya state, India.
The deceased was identified as Minhaj Uddin, 25, son of Kamar Uddin from Bhadeshwar village in Paschim Jaflong union of Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet.
Local sources have said that Minhaj Uddin and some others entered India illegally on Friday night. After going to the Lakhat station area, the Indian Khasias opened fire, and Minhaj Uddin was shot. Later, his associates brought him to the Bangladesh border. Minhaj died on the way to the hospital. Local UP member Kamal Uddin said we went to his house as soon as we heard about the incident. Then we informed the police and BGB. Gowainghat police station OC Omar Faruque said, "A young man was killed in firing by Indian Khasias. As soon as the news was received, a team from Gowainghat Police Station visited the scene. Later, the police prepared a body and sent it to the Osmani Medical College Morgue for autopsy."
