Navy Chief inaugurates  tree plantation  campaign 2026

As part of the Government of Bangladesh's nationwide initiative to plant 250 million trees over the next five years, launched Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on 9 July 2026, the Bangladesh Navy has undertaken a countrywide tree plantation campaign under the theme, "Let's Beautify the Nation Through Tree Plantation, Bangladesh First." Marking the occasion, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M. Nazmul Hasan officially inaugurated the Bangladesh Navy's Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 on Sunday by planting a sapling at the Naval Headquarters, according to an ISPR press release.

A special prayer was offered afterwards, seeking the success of the campaign. The ceremony was attended by the Principal Staff Officer at Naval Headquarters, Regional Commanders of the naval areas, senior military and civilian officials and naval personnel.

To ensure the successful implementation of the campaign, the Bangladesh Navy is carrying out extensive tree plantation programmes at all its bases, establishments and coastal areas across the country. Emphasizing the equal importance of development and environmental conservation, the Chief of Naval Staff urged every member of the Navy to actively participate in the government's "250 Million Trees in Five Years" initiative by planting trees from their respective positions, with the goal of building a greener, climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable Bangladesh for future generations.

He also stressed the importance of expanding tree plantation efforts in coastal regions to strengthen resilience against natural disasters and maintain ecological balance. As part of the campaign, the Bangladesh Navy is planting a variety of fruit-bearing, timber and medicinal trees at all naval bases, coastal establishments and surrounding areas nationwide.
