British High Commission Dhaka hosts  send-off reception for Bangladeshi athletes

British High Commission Dhaka hosted a send-off reception, organised by High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, to celebrate the Bangladeshi athletes who are set to participate in the Commonwealth Games 2026, taking place in Glasgow, Scotland later this month, reports a press release.

Sarah Cookesaid the event reflects the shared values of fairness, respect and opportunity among Commonwealth nations.

Speaking at the reception, High Commissioner Sarah Cook said the Commonwealth Games are "really special" because they bring together a diverse family of countries united by common values.

She said this wonderful team of athletes from Bangladesh will be leaving for Glasgow in just a few days. I wish them all the best.

The High Commission said the UK is proud to host the Commonwealth Games once again. The event, which is being held in Glasgow, UK for the third time since 2014, reaffirms Britain's commitment to the Commonwealth and the power of sport to unite, inspire and drive positive change.

The event praised the dedication, hard work and achievements of Bangladeshi athletes and wished them all the best as they prepare to represent the country on the international stage.

Bangladesh will compete in four events - athletics, boxing, artistic gymnastics and swimming.

The event, while embodying the values of the modern Commonwealth, also highlighted the long-standing partnership between Bangladesh and the UK.
