July Shaheed Dibosh (July Martyrs' Day) was observed in Brahmanbaria's Sarail upazila on Thursday in commemoration of Abu Sayed, the first martyr of the 2024 student-led quota reform movement, and all others who lost their lives during the July Uprising.
Marking the day, Sarail upazila administration organized a doa mahfil and discussion at the upazila parishad auditorium on Thursday morning.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Saiful Islam presided over the programme.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Md Nizam Uddin, Upazila BNP President Anisul Islam Thakur, District BNP Member Anowar Hossain Master, Sarail Govt College Principal Mridha Ahmedul Kamal, Sarail Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Jahirul Islam, Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Enam Khan, Hefazat-e-Islam President Mowlana Jahirul Islam, Sarail Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Jabbar, Upazila Islami Andolon President Md Saiful Islam, Upazila Education Officer (acting) Abu Hena Mohammad Ammun, Upazila Disaster Management Officer Md Md Sifat Bin Rahman, Upazila Fisheries Officer Saidur Rahman, Upazila Election Officer Md Mahbubur Rahman, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Jannat Sultana, Upazila Reporters Unity General Secretary Taslim Uddin attended the discussion, among others.
Family members of martyrs, wounded July warriors, government officials, teachers, students, political leaders and representatives from the civil society were present on the occasion.
Upazila Model Masjid Imam Mufti Baki Billah recited verses from the holy Quran and Mowlana Jahirul Islam conducted the doa. Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Md Mansur Ahmed moderated the programme.
