Feni University duo qualify for Tokyo Law Moot

Two students from the 31st batch of the Department of Law at Feni University, Miraj Hossain and Md. Kamruzzaman Jehad, have been selected as Bangladesh’s sole representatives for the International Oral Rounds of the Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition 2026.

The duo secured their place in the prestigious international round after successfully qualifying through the written memorial evaluation. They will represent Bangladesh at the competition, scheduled to be held from August 24 to 26, 2026, at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan, according to a press release.

On Thursday (July 16), the students paid a courtesy visit to Feni University’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Masudul Haque Chowdhury.

Congratulating the students on their remarkable achievement, Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Masudul Haque Chowdhury expressed immense pride and said, “Our students’ qualification for such a prestigious international platform is a matter of great pride and joy for the entire university community. This accomplishment demonstrates that our students possess the talent, competence and determination to compete successfully on the global stage. I wish them continued success in the upcoming rounds.”

The team is being coached by Kazi Tasnim Jahan Tanzi, Chairperson and Assistant Professor of the Department of Law, whose guidance and continuous encouragement played a pivotal role in the team’s preparation and qualification.

Expressing his delight over the achievement, Tanzi said, “Securing a place among the top 16 teams after competing against some of Asia’s strongest law schools is an extraordinary milestone for our department. I am confident they will continue this momentum in the oral rounds and further enhance the reputation of Feni University.”

Established in 1999, the Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition is one of Asia’s most prestigious international moot court competitions. It challenges participants to argue hypothetical disputes involving contemporary issues of international law through both written memorials and oral advocacy, assessing their legal research, analytical reasoning, and advocacy skills. Each participating country is permitted to send only one team to the international rounds.

Earlier this year, in February, Miraj Hossain and Md. Kamruzzaman Jehad made history for Feni University by winning the Best Memorial Award at the 2nd Bangladesh Qualifying Round of the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition 2025–26, marking the university’s first-ever victory in the category.
