Under the management of the South Asian Karate Federation and in collaboration with the Bangladesh Karate Federation, the two-day "10th Cadet, Junior, Under-21 and Senior South Asian Karate Competition 2026 and the 2nd Under-14 South Asia Karate Cup Competition 2026" is all set to begin in the capital from Saturday.
A total of 565 players from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and the host Bangladesh team will take part in the two-day meet which will be held at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur in various categories.
The competitors will fight for a total of 63 gold medals in the 10th Cadet, Junior, Under-21 and Senior South Asian Karate Competition and a total of 30 gold medals in the 2nd Under-14 South Asia Karate Cup Competition, for a total of 93 gold medals. State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque will inaugurate the competition as the chief guest on Saturday at 9 am.
On the occasion of the competition, a day-long Coaches Licensing Examination was held at the Chittagong Hill Tracts Complex Auditorium, Bailey Road on Thursday.
A total of 61 coaches from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh participated in the Asian Coaches Licensing Examination organised by the South Asian Karate Federation and in collaboration with the Bangladesh Karate Federation.
The Coaches and Referee Licensing Examination was conducted as the chief examiner by Michael Hans, General Secretary of the Referee Commission of the Asian Karate Federation.
Besides, Ushiaki Nobukawa, Referee Commission Member (Japan), Shahin Ansar, Referee Commission Member (India), Mahmud Ilsaid.
Referee Commission Member (Egypt), Jobar Jasim, Referee Commission Member (United Arab Emirates) served as assistant examiners and Bangladesh Karate Referee Commission Chairman Awlad Hossain and other referee commission members provided overall support from Bangladesh.
South Asian Karate Federation President Bharat Sharma of India was present at the day-long Coach Licensing Examination. Bangladesh Karate Federation President Md. Shahzada Alam, General Secretary Md. Moazzem Hossain Sentu, Joint General Secretary Kabir Akbar Chowdhury Taj and others were also present at the time.
