As part of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's tree plantation program, the Bangladesh Puja Utjapan Parishad Mohanganj Upazila Committee inaugurated the tree plantation at the municipal Mahashamshanghat in the presence of traditional religious followers at 7 temples and the Mahashamshanghat in Mohanganj of Netrakona at 10 am on Saturday. Mohanganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizul Islam Harun was present at the tree plantation program at the chief guest. Saplings of various species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees were planted to maintain environmental balance, increase greenery and enhance the beauty of the crematorium and various temples. Later, this program was observed at various temples of the upazila including the Ramakrishna Math temple in Mailora.
Chaired by Puja Celebration President Nibaran Saha Roy Nantu, Ramakrishna Math Mission President Amal Chandra Sarkar, Secretary Kamal Roy, Crematorium Committee President Dr. Gautam Roy, Secretary Bilash Banik, Mihir Goswami, Biplab Roy, Bikash Das, and other traditional religious leaders and dignitaries of the area were present at the program.
Speaking the occasion, OC Hafizul Islam Harun said, "There is no alternative to tree plantation to protect the environment and build a livable Bangladesh for future generations."
Welcoming this initiative of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to protect the environment, he called on every person in the society to plant more trees from their respective positions.
