CU to celebrate Nazrul Year on July 22

As part of the year-long nationwide observance of ‘Nazrul Year’, declared by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to commemorate the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, the University of Chittagong will organize a seminar and a Nazrul music programme on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Faculty of Social Sciences Auditorium.

The programme will be inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chittagong, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan, as the chief guest. Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Amin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic), will attend as the special guest. The event will be chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and Convener of the Nazrul Year Celebration Committee.

The seminar will feature a keynote paper titled “National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam: Patriotism, Humanity and Mass Awakening,” to be presented by distinguished Nazrul scholar Professor Dr. Muhammad Nurul Amin.

The discussion session will include Professor Dr. Mohammad Anwar Sayed, Chairman of the Department of Bangla, University of Chittagong, and Professor Dr. Taslima Begum of the same department.

Renowned Nazrul Sangeet exponent Ferdous Ara will perform at the event, while students of the Department of Theatre and Music of the University of Chittagong will present a dance-drama and musical performance inspired by the works of the National Poet.

The university has extended a cordial invitation to all interested participants to attend the programme.
