Third terminal management agreement likely by August-September: CAAB Chairman
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mustafa Mahmud Siddique has said that an agreement with a Japanese consortium company to operate the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is expected to be signed by the end of August or in the first week of September.
He made the announcement on Monday while addressing a workshop titled "Further Enriching the Technical and Practical Knowledge of Media Workers About the Country's Aviation Sector" at the CAAB conference room in the capital. The workshop was organized by the Public Relations Department of the Civil Aviation Authority. The CAAB chairman also said that construction work on the third terminal is almost complete and if the remaining work continues as planned, the terminal is expected to be inaugurated in December. At the workshop, CAAB Member (Operations and Planning) Air Commodore Abu Saeed Mehboob Khan presented the keynote paper. He highlighted the responsibilities and activities of the Civil Aviation Authority, including airport management, airside and landside operations, passenger services and security measures. He also underscored the importance of modern air traffic management and adherence to the standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to ensure safe and efficient air traffic operations.
CAAB Member (Administration) S.M. Lablur Rahman and Member (Air Traffic Control) also spoke at the workshop. Journalists from various media outlets participated in the event.
