Rangpur outclass Comilla to reach semi-finals

The boys from Rangpur region have booked their ticket to the semi-finals with a strong performance in the quarter-finals of the ongoing NotunKuri Sports 2026. They outplayedComilla region by a big margin of 10 wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Rangpur captain Abdul QayyumShakib won the toss and decided to field first. FarhanSadiq struck at the beginning of the innings. Comilla lost the first wicket after losing the team's first 6 runs. After that, the team fell under pressure after losing wickets one after another. 

They lost the second wicket for 11 runs and the third wicket for 29 runs. AbrarJasin scored the highest 15 runs with the bat for Comilla. He played an innings with a strike rate of 136.36, hitting one four and one six off 11 balls. Besides, BrihatDebnath scored 12 off 10 balls and Md. 

FarhanShahriarHamim scored 9 runs off 14 balls. However, the rest of the batters could not do much. In the end, Comilla Boys' innings was bundled out for just 56 runs in 9.5 overs. Shaheen Islam Shahi bowled brilliantly among the Rangpur Boys' bowlers. He took 2 wickets for just 2 runs with economy rate 1.09. In addition, FarhanKabir, FarhanSadiq and Md. NowfelIhsanNirob took 2 wickets each. Rangpur Boys took control of the match with the bowlers' brilliant performance.

In reply, Rangpur Boys' batsmen were in an aggressive mood from the start when they came out to bat. The opening partnership of Captain Abdul QayyumShakib and Ilman Bin Imtiaz decided the outcome of the match. The team scored 59 runs in just 8.3 overs without losing any wickets. Captain Abdul QayyumShakib played a match-best innings of 37 runs off 27 balls with 7 fours and 1 six with the Strike rate 137.04. At the other end, Ilman Bin Imtiaz remained unbeaten on 18 runs. With this win, Rangpur Boys made it to the semi-finals.
