Elderly man arrested for attempting to rape 11-year-old child in Kalapara

Gofran Palash, Kalapara (Patuakhali): Police have arrested an elderly man named Nur Mohammad Hawlader (65) on charges of attempting to rape an 11-year-old child in Kalapara, Patuakhali. On Wednesday (July 22), the child's mother Khadija Begum filed a case under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act, and he was arrested later that evening.

Police said that on July 7, the child was staying with her younger brother at her home in Purba Notunpara area of ​​Dhulasar union of Mohipur police station. At that time, her mother was out of the house for urgent work and her father was out of the house for livelihood. Taking this opportunity, Nur Mohammad Hawlader entered the house and tried to forcibly rape the child. When he saw people coming, he fled.

Family members claim that they did not immediately file a complaint with the police station due to social shame and the hope of a local solution. The child's mother filed a written complaint with the police station on Wednesday after not getting proper justice locally.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mahipur Police Station Md. Shamim Howlader said, "The accused has been arrested in this incident. Today, Thursday, the accused Nur Mohammad was handed over to the Kalapara court.
