'BGB foils at least 25 push-ins along M-singh Cumilla border'

Bangladesh Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled at least 25 push-ins along the 1,200-kilometer Indian border in the Sarail region from Mymensingh to Cumilla in the last two months.
The last time four people who tried to infiltrate at the Salda River border in Brahmanpara, Cumilla on July 26 were sent back.
Brigadier General Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury, the region commander of the North-Eastern Region of BGB, said that the cooperation of the common people and other forces is needed to prevent this push-in or infiltration from India.
He revealed the information while responding to questions from journalists at the drug destruction program of the 10th battalion of Cumilla and the 60th battalion of the BGB on Tuesday morning. In his speech as the chief guest, he said that in the last three years, these two battalions have conducted 20,200 operations and seized drugs worth about Tk 520 million. During this time, 526 accused have been arrested red-handed with drugs and more than 250 are absconding.
Cumilla Sector Commander Colonel Rakibul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Rozi Akhter, 60 BGB Commander Lt. Col. SM Shariful Islam, 10 BGB Commander Lt. Col. Mir Ali Ejaz, RAB Commander Major Sadman Ibne Alam, Narcotics Control Department Circle Inspector Md. Nazrul Islam, among others, were present as special guests.
The BGB said that from October 2023 to January 2026, the 10th Battalion of BGB in Comilla and from July 2022 to March 31, 2026, the 60th Battalion of BGB in Sultanpur recovered and seized narcotics worth Tk. 51 crore 83 lakhs 84 thousands 125 taka.
