Barrister Mosharraf Hossain takes charge as chief of CID
Additional Inspector General of Police Barrister Moshrraf Hossain has formally assumed charge as chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bangladesh Police.
A notification was issued about his appointment by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on June 28. Before joining the CID, he served as Director of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) on deputation. During his tenure at the NSI, he was promoted to the rank of Additional Inspector General of Police.
He joined Bangladesh Police in 1995 through the 15th Bangladesh Civil Service examination as an assistant superintendent of police. During his nearly three decade career, he served in CID, DMP, CMP, RAB, Police Headquarters, Police Academy Sardah and as superintendent of police in Pirojpur and Chapainawabganj, gaining extensive experience in investigation, intelligence, training and administration. Moshrraf Hossain holds a master's degree in Economics from Islamic University, Kushtia, and a Bar-at-Law from City University of London, UK, and has received specialised training in forensic science and modern policing at home and abroad.
Senior CID officials, including deputy inspectors general, additional deputy inspectors general, superintendents of police and additional superintendents of police welcomed the newly appointed CID chief.
