Govt appoints 86 DAGs, 179 AAGs for SC

The government has appointed 86 Deputy Attorneys General (DAGs) and 179 Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs) for the Supreme Court, cancelling all previous appointment orders.

A gazette notification, signed by Solicitor Sana Md Mahroof Hossain, said that all previous appointment orders for Deputy Attorneys General have been cancelled and 86 lawyers of the Bangladesh Supreme Court have been appointed as Deputy Attorneys General until further orders.

A separate notification said that all previous appointment orders of Assistant Attorneys General have been cancelled and 179 lawyers of the Bangladesh Supreme Court have been appointed as Assistant Attorneys General until further orders. The appointments take effect immediately.

With today's appointment of 265 new Deputy and Assistant Attorneys General, alongside the Attorney General and three Additional Attorneys General, the total number of law officers now stands at 269. The total number of law officers was 337 in March.
