IU student alleged sharing of roommates' private photos to boyfriend in London
A female student of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia has been temporarily expelled from 'July 36' hall following allegations that she sent objectionable personal photos of her roommates to her boyfriend living in London. The hall authorities have formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident.
?The accused has been identified as Tubaul Jannat Oishy, student of the department of Economics under 2021-22 academic session.
Victims said, Oishy sent personal photos of her roommates and other girls to her boyfriend named 'Abid', who lives in London, without their consent.
The matter came to light recently when the relationship between the accused student and the man deteriorated, and he allegedly sent some of the photos to the victim students.
The complainants claimed that photos of at least 10 students have so far been identified. The incident, which became known on the midnight of August 6, triggered concerns among female students over privacy and security issues at the hall.
In response to this situation, July-36 hall administration called for an emergency meeting and temporarily expelled the accused student and formed a probe body to investigate further. The hall authority also seized two of her personal mobile phones for the sake of investigation. Hall Provost Prof Dr A.K.M. Shamsul Haque Siddiqui confirmed.
The committee has been formed with Resident Teacher Prof Dr Arifa Akter as convener, Resident Teacher Dr Muhammad Kamruzzaman as member secretary, and Assistant Proctor of the university Prof Dr Khairul Islam as a member.
Accused Oishy has been called for several times but couldn't be reached. But she said to the media that whatever has been spread, is exaggerated.
